Private Walleye Stocking Program
Under DNR authorization, and without state funding, the Lake Sarah Association has conducted an annual Walleye stocking program that is completely funded by donations to the Association by members and those that fish Sarah. With this money, the Association has created a productive Walleye fishery close to the metro to the benefit of the greater public. Please consider donating to continue to build and maintain the walleye fishery, even if not a lakeshore resident or member of The Lake Sarah Association.

Fun Fish Facts
Bass, Crappie, and “Sunfish” (AKA Bluegills) are all members of the Sunfish Family.
Bluegills, Pumpkinseeds, and Green Sunfish often intermate to create interesting looking hybrids in Lake Sarah.
The Perch Family includes Walleye, and Yellow Perch. Both can be found in Lake Sarah.
Bowfin, AKA “Dogfish”, is an ancient species of cod. They have a primitive lung, allowing them to breath in water and air. This allows them to survive in water with low oxygen conditions, and they can live out of water for a long time as long as there is some moisture. People that catch bowfin and toss them up on shore, often find their catch gone because they have crawled back into the water. Genius.
All Fish are craniates with skulls of bone or cartilage.
All fresh water fish are cold blooded.
Fish have glands in their skin that secrete mucous that give fish their slimness and odor which protects them from infections, bacteria, and fungus.
The muscle mass of fish is segmented into zig-zag shapes called myotomes which is the muscle that peels off in layers. This meat is what makes them tasty!
